Gods and Dogs

I find it amusing that these two parasitic things have such similar names, just flipping first and last letters. Both have such good reputations, but in truth are sucking black holes for attention, love, and energy.

We create gods out of fear, trying to find reason, purpose and order in the world. The problem is that they are not real, so their believers are putting their energy into a fiction, instead of something that actually exists. Even worse is how often evil people use gods to manipulate. In that gods are created out of fear, evil people use that fear to coerce others to accumulate wealth and power for themselves, and good people fall for the lie and become servants of evil while feeling they are righteous. Look at all the evil that is done in the name of gods. Evil doesn’t exist in nature, only in religion, and is most often done in the name of a god. Also that god is a condensed version of good isn’t lost on me. Smart manipulative tactic. If you must worship something, worship something real like the Earth or the Sun, or much better, believe in yourself.

Dogs on the other hand are the products of loneliness and lack of purpose. There’s a story I like about how once upon a time wolves felt sorry for humans because they were such terrible hunters, so they taught them to hunt in exchange for humans taking care of them for the rest of eternity. I sometimes think our domestic dogs are the descendants of those canny canines.  And let’s be clear, I have no issue with wild dogs, it’s the domestic variety I disdain. I’ve even loved some dogs, it’s just sad that we’ve made them exist.

People own dogs, as if one could actually own another being, because there is something missing in their lives and they are using the dog to try to give themselves what they think they need. Instead of breaking through their conditioning, finding their truth and purpose within themselves, and radiating love and joy out into the world, they choose to put their attention, love and care into a creature that becomes extremely attached to them because they are entirely dependent on them. To their dog they are a god, and in this crazy world we have created, where, for some reason, worship is considered a good thing, I suppose it feels good to have something worship you.

This is a terrible waste. Not only are dogs an incredible drain on the environment, but there are so many people and worthy projects that would benefit and be beneficial if they got all the love and care that goes to dogs. I don’t doubt that people love their dogs, but the idea that their dogs love them back is a myth. Their dogs are attached to them, extremely attached to them, but this is not love. They are trading attention and affection for food, attention, affection and a place to live. Sounds like a lot of human relationships, but not good ones. If you must have a pet, I suggest you get a human one.
