We have been interested in people living together in community for quite some time. James has lived in community and experimented with different ways of people living together. We feel attracted to continuing to experiment with how people can live together and to support others who are interested in similar experiments. Our experience is that the pair-bonded couple and the nuclear family is not creating the optimal reality. Obviously this is the cultural norm and most of us are heavily conditioned to not even consider alternatives. We have lots of fun playing with other ideas and are very open to experimenting with new possibilities. Of particular interest to us is expanding the idea of the family unit. We clearly see the power in a group of people choosing to align their energy in the same direction. This is the basis of our relationship. We don’t see any reason to limit this to two people. We are always looking for like-minded people who might want to come into alignment with us, and share living and creating together. As we play with this we experience all kinds of conditioned reactions arising and enjoy the process of exploring these as they come up in a process to discover what alternatives might be possible. With a child coming we are also looking at alternatives to the attached parent/child relationship. In our work we see the effect of this on so many people and would love to provide our child with a fuller experience with more options. We feel that if a child had more than just one female and one male to care for it and learn from it could make its behavioral choices from a wider selection and not feel so desperate about the consequences of the choices it makes. This is an ongoing area of interest for us and we will continue to share what we experience and learn.
Support for Community Projects Besides our small scale experiments in how we can live together we also are interested and attracted to supporting other people who are making similar explorations on whatever scale they find attractive. We feel this is a wonderful thing to be doing and are open to explore how we may support or become involved in such projects. |
